Actress Vidya Pradeep Earns PhD in Stem Cell Biology; Heading to the United States for Work | Tamil Cinema News

Actress Vidya Pradeep, who has played the female lead in several Tamil films, has now obtained a PhD in stem cell biology and is ready to move to the United States for a post-doctoral scientist position.

Yes, the actress, who has been in several critically acclaimed films including Magizh Thirumeni’s ‘Thadam’, has now become a scientist and will now be able to have the title ‘Dr’ stamped before her name.

Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, the actress said, “5th March 2022, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai: The eye hospital where I have worked for the past 10 years. The one achievement I am incredibly proud of Fulfill the purpose of coming to Chennai – get a PhD and become a scientist.

“I had to achieve this goal through hardship, determination and sacrifice. I understand the responsibility of holding this position and I will continue to bring the best of myself to science and society with the utmost great sincerity.

“As I will travel to the United States to take up a position as a post-doctoral scientist, I am eternally grateful to Sankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital and Padmabhushan Dr SS Badrinath Sir.

“My sincere thanks and gratitude to my PhD guide and mentor Dr S Krishnakumar, co-guide Professor Uma Maheshwari, lead scientists Dr Sowmya and Dr Nivedita for always being there to guide me and help me achieve my goals.

“My sincere gratitude to senior consultants Dr Geetha Iyer, Dr Nirmala Subramanian, Dr Swetha Agarwal for their valuable clinical contributions and guidance, which helped me to achieve our publications.
