Captain America 4 actor hopes Chris Evans will return to the MCU

Chris Evans is done with MCU movies, isn’t he? Well, Anthony Mackie, who will direct the upcoming superhero movie Captain America 4, has said he hopes the actor returns to the big screen one day as Steve Rogers.

Talk to Variety at the recent D23 2022 event, Mackie shared his comments about Evans when asked if the actor would return as Steve Rogers. He said, “I hope so man. Chris [Evans] is my boy. We all love and appreciate Chris. I’m very upset that they put Sebastian [Stan] in [the Thunderbolts movie] with Wyatt [Russell] and left me behind. So I’m like, if Sebastian has Wyatt, I should have Chris.

With all the secrecy surrounding the Marvel movies and other related projects, fans are sure to jump at Mackie’s comments and wonder if they mean Evans is really making a comeback.

In reality, it’s likely that Mackie is just revealing her personal wish to work with Evans again. If Evans was really going to reappear as Steve Rogers in Captain America 4, the news would be completely secret and Mackie wouldn’t have been so open about it.

If the actor were to return as the character, however, there would be a lot to consider first. Everything else in the Avengers time travel movie aside, Avengers Endgame acted as a great closing point for the characters of Steve Rogers, played by Evans, and Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. That means everything return should be convincing. Enough to justify itself as a footnote to Evans’ Captain America ending in Endgame.

In other Captain America 4 news, the title of the action movie has been revealed and the actor who will play the main villain has also been introduced. The movie will be called Captain America: New World Order, and Tim Blake Nelson will be the movie’s antagonist, reprising his role as the Incredible Hulk as the leader.
