Matthew Morrison Lists Hollywood Hills Home – DIRT

It was quick. Singer and dancer stage and TV actor Matthew Morrison quickly landed a buyer for La Reve (“The Dream”), his secluded Hollywood Hills home which went up for sale last month at nearly 4.3 millions of dollars. Online listings indicate that the deal on the table is contingent and that backup offers are accepted.

Once engaged to ‘Selling Sunset’ star Chrishell Stause, the triple threat performer is ready to more than triple his money on the just over one acre property he scooped up for around $1,000. $2 million in 2010, just as his 120-plus episode stint on “Glee” was heating up. The following year, he met actress Renee Puente, and the two married in 2014. They have since completed a million-dollar renovation, Morrison said. The Wall Street Journal they added 1,000 square feet and a bedroom – and had two children, a four-year-old son and a daughter born last summer.

Built in the early 1940s and downright tiny by celebrity standards, the Monterey Colonial Farmhouse now measures a relatively modest 3,146 square feet, with three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Located on a sunny mound and invisible from the street at the end of a long closed driveway and surrounded by foliage, the house is classified with Heather Boyd at Hilton & Hyland.

Highlights include a lowered living room with a rough stone corner fireplace and a full chef’s kitchen with a built-in steamer in the double-wide island. French doors open the ground floor onto loggias and cobblestone terraces perfectly furnished for spending the days (and evenings) gazing out over the relaxed grounds and wooded hillside.

In the master bedroom, with stone fireplace, sun terrace, walk-in closet and modern bathroom, the chunky dark stained wooden beams on the vaulted ceiling are balanced by delicate, oversized floral wallpaper behind the bed.

Throughout the house are reminders of the owners of the house: the name Morrison appears on the doormat at the front door, on a wooden sign outside the living room and in a sepia photograph hung above the fireplace in master bedroom. Other notable comforts include smart home technology that controls security and sound systems, a built-in barbecue, a spa, and several organic fruit trees.

The Morrisons previously owned an apartment in New York City that sold in 2019 for $2.1 million, and a retreat in upstate New York that sold in 2020 for $775,000. The family plans to travel for a while, with stops in Nashville and Italy, the actor told the WSJ, before eventually settling down and buying a house on the East Coast.

Along with a number of Broadway credits (“Hairspray,” “The Light in the Piazza,” “Finding Neverland”), Morrison also appeared in “The Good Wife,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “American Horror Story.” More recently, he starred in the live-action musical “Dr. Seuss’ the Grinch Musical,” and released an album (“Disney Dreamin’ with Matthew Morrison”) on which he sings songs. Disney classics like “Aladdin”, “Toy Story”, Pinocchio” and more.
