He said: “We never dated, we were friends hanging out. We get on very well. Megan and I are friends. We were never official.

“We never announced that we were boyfriend and girlfriend.

“We did Ex On The Beach, which will be released later this month. She’s a great girl, and we’re still friends and very much in touch. It was overdone.

During the interview, James also reflected on his past relationship with Danielle Armstrong.

The pair had a rocky romance which was well documented on TOWIE, with James admitting to being unfaithful early in their relationship before reconciling.

Differences: During the interview, James also reflected on his past relationship with Danielle Armstrong and said that while he was happy that she had a baby, he was not at the same stage of life.

They split in 2015, with Danielle breaking up with Lockie just as he was about to propose to Marbella.

The couple tragically suffered a miscarriage and James said he was happy that Danielle had found happiness in being a mother with her daughter Orla, whom she welcomed with her fiancé Tom Edney.

When asked if James was ready for the kids, he replied, “No, not everything because again, everything happens for a reason.” I wasn’t ready to settle down then, and I wasn’t ready to be a father then.

‘Danielle – fair play, and good luck to her. I’m happy for her that she found her happiness. She and I got back together, but it wasn’t the right time for me. We wanted different things.

James then opened up about how he was thrown into a gangster with big Hollywood heavyweights.

“I’m starting to film that. I can’t say who’s in it, but there are some great ones. There are Hollywood actors – it’s a Hollywood movie,” he said.

“The role wasn’t just offered to me. I had to go and work for it. I had to audition, and it was a struggle.

“It’s something I’m very passionate about. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, so I left and worked for it. TOWIE was fantastic and gave me a massive platform , but I think it’s time to step aside and do something else.

“It’s a gangster movie. It’s going to be basically like Snatch. It’s going to be in theaters of course.

“The role was perfect for me. I’m from east London anyway, but this is a south London film, about a London boy. It was as if the role had been written for me.
